They did not update previous versions of peachtree to vista so dont get vista if ya have peachtree 2006 or peachtree 2007.
To say you need our extra paid customer service is sick in and of it self.
They change the interface and data usage on purpose every 3 years to force all users to upgrade and pay for un-unnecessary training.
The funny thing is the basic forms and reporting functions for accounting have not changed in 20 years, and even a complex change in tax law should not require the repurchase of already functioning ledger mods.

This post only scratches the surface. The yearly (and expensive) upgrades fail to fix long-standing problems and introduce new ones. When I upgraded to 2007, it took them 2 weeks to get it running on my desktop because of .net configuration issues. I have stayed with them only becuase my accountant assures me that Quickbooks is even worse. Yesterday, the latest tax service update (that you pay extra for) cratered in the middle of its automatic install, and left me unable to do payroll processing. With nothing on their website, I have been forced to BUY A SUPPORT PLAN to get the problem fixed. After shelling out the money for a plan, however, I have been on hold for a half hour. PEACHTREE SUCKS!!!
While I agree that Sage Software has some issues, lets face it all companies that put out software do, saying that they suck because they are not reworking an older package to work with a new OS is absurd. The changes that Vista requires are not something that is always an easy retrofit, especially considering that the compatibility issues may lie not with Peachtree itself but with the backend database engine. Which in the case of 2006 and 2007 was old technology and I dont see Pervasive going back and making the changes needed and then Sage integrating them in. This is exactly why businesses should make sure that they plan adequately for coming technology change. Sometimes that means waiting to deply new technology like Vista, and when you are stuck because Microsoft has given you no choice, making sure that you are ready in all aspects of compatibility - all software and hardware - enterprise wide before you are up against the wall. Lets face it we are all a victim of the new technology revenue stream. The trickle down effect to all the hardware and software companies because of a "forced" switch of something like Vista is billions of dollars. We are now all beta testing sheep and it is only getting worse. As an example my TV has a bug that will be fixed in the next firmware update...just wait until your refrigerator or microwave reboots randomly ;) Then you will have something to compain about!
Chris you did not bring up my main points that are still being pushed by Sage. Upgrading a full software package every 2 to 3 years due to new form requirements.
There is no possible way after all these years to have a static data format for forms and tax formulas that is outside the accounting apps functionality??
MAS90 and peachtree need to generate the same tax forms and no-one at sage has thought to modularize this data.
Its all about Sages proprietary outlook of ALL their customers data not Microsofts Pushing of Vista or IT workstation upgrades.
They just suck!
If you think the software sucks you should see their IT department. More like a demolition crew.
We are a michigan based company and after 8 years spent over 100k on mas90. We have fully implemented their e-commerce EBM software as well as many module add ons. It sucks. Going back to quickbooks after switch from it 8 years ago. Peace.
Sage sucks without any question. I have been installing software from different developers for about 15 years now and the only time I ever have problems is with Sage products.
They gouge you for an upgrade, then send you software without a registratio code, then provide documentation with phone numbers that don't even exist. Their user guides contain conflicing information and basic add-on modules never seem to work.
Sage sucks a big fat one.
I'm currently going through hell because my Sage sales contact thinks they know my business more than I and refuse to vary from their solution that is proving to be quite expensive. Customer service with this company is a joke at best.
